40 Days of Prayer for Reece's Rainbow: Day 16, Angelina

During Lent, I have decided to pray for one child with Down syndrome a day that they find a forever family to adopt them Reece's Rainbow. These children need our help!

The mission of Reece’s Rainbow is to rescue orphans with Down syndrome through the gift of adoption, to raise awareness for all of the children who are waiting in 25 countries around the world, and to raise funds as adoption grants that help adoptive families afford the high cost of adopting these beautiful children.

Every family deserves the blessing of a child with Down syndrome!!

Day 16: Angelina

Angelina is such a beautiful little angel!! She was born in March 2008. There is $7400 in grants towards her adoption! If you feel compelled to financially help out Angelina, you can visit her page here.

"This beautiful muffin, look how she has grown! She does have a heart condition and will need to seek a cardiologist and surgery once home. She needs a family ASAP!

Angelina has been waiting WAY too long. She is already 4 1/2 now and has likely been transferred. You can see how tiny and frail she is. PLEASE help us find her family!"

Please pray to Saint William of Rochester, who's sole purpose is to intercede with each and every one of these beautiful children that need their forever families!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank You that children are a gift from You and that their angels are always in Your presence in heaven. (Matthew 18:10)

Today we pray for Angelina who is in need of a new family better able to care for, nurture and love them. We also thank you, Father, that you have given loving hearts to a forever family that they feel called by their love for this precious child to begin the adoption process. You know the difficulties that Angelina has gone through and the prayer and effort they have put into their decision to adopt.

We pray that the adoption process will run smoothly and that the doors will open so this child may become a permanent part of a new family. We pray for wisdom and discernment for all doctors, lawyers, social workers, judges and court staff that they will work in the best interest of this child. We also pray for Your provision of the resources of money and expert advice needed for the prospective parents.

We pray that your will be done in this precious child’s life and that this child will be surrounded by love and nurtured in the knowledge of You so they may grow into the strong, secure, beautiful person you desire.

We are asking for Saint William of Rochester intercession and help Angelina to find her permanent family.

Guide us as we pray and make us instruments of healing and help in this situation. And guard our own hearts with the knowledge that You are here and that You care. In the name of Jesus who blessed little children by taking them into his arms, Amen.

40 Days of Prayer for Reece's Rainbow: Day 15, Heath

During Lent, I have decided to pray for one child with Down syndrome a day that they find a forever family to adopt them Reece's Rainbow. These children need our help!

The mission of Reece’s Rainbow is to rescue orphans with Down syndrome through the gift of adoption, to raise awareness for all of the children who are waiting in 25 countries around the world, and to raise funds as adoption grants that help adoptive families afford the high cost of adopting these beautiful children.

Every family deserves the blessing of a child with Down syndrome!!

Day 15: Heath

This little guy just caught my eye!! Heath was born April 8. 2001. And he has a FULL GRANT already, $22,494.50 to go towards his adoption!!! All he needs is for a family to open their hearts and adopt him!!! You can go visit his page here.

"Heath is a twelve year old boy with Down Syndrome. He is tiny in stature. His feet hardly reach the edge of his shared wheelchair. Because of his age, he has already been transferred from the stimulating environment of his baby house to a dull and underfunded mental institute for boys ages 6-18. He is no longer the youngest boy in his group, but he is certainly among the smallest.

Heath is not a recent transfer. He has lived in the stifling boredom of institution life for a long time. He has lost the vivacity of life at the baby houses. In his three years at the institute, he has been given nothing of his own. He has not seen a book or a toy. He has never been gathered into anyone’s loving arms. He is a very lonely little fellow in desperate need of love and comfort.

We have few other details on Heath. He has been seen in a wheelchair, so he may not be able to walk. We don’t know if or how well he talks, or any other details on his medical condition. We do know that he is a cute, chubby-cheeked, dirty and neglected lonely little lost boy who needs a mother more than almost anyone else in the world. If you would like to learn more about Heath from a family who met him at his present institute, please follow these links:

Please pray to Saint William of Rochester, who's sole purpose is to intercede with each and every one of these beautiful children that need their forever families!!

"Veronika is another Baltic beauty, with blue eyes and blonde hair. She is described as calm and well-behaved. She willingly performs directions from adults, and waits for encouragement and praise for doing a good job. Veronika is very observant…she keeps a close watch on adult’s speech and action, understands directions with the help if gestures/signs, tries to imitate adult behaviors, and reacts very positively to praise. She doesn’t like to be reprimanded. Veronika gladly engages in contact with a known adult, is cautious in contact with strangers, can cooperate with peers, and can play common games. Nevertheless, she plays very well on her own as well. She is able to act consistently and determinedly when she has a good routine (this is another common thread for children with Down syndrome). She has difficulties “switching gears” quickly. She can analyze and compare in a simple level, but cannot separate colors and sizes yet. She has a small vocabulary, is familiar with the parts of the body, eats independently, drinks from a cup, observes manners at the table, dresses and undresses alone, and brushes her teeth without assistance. Sounds like the perfect child to me!"

Please pray to Saint William of Rochester, who's sole purpose is to intercede with each and every one of these beautiful children that need their forever families!!

Day 4: Felix

What a handsome prince! Felix was born in the October 20, 2003. He already has $11,608.31 to go towards his adoption!! If you feel moved to help out Felix financially with the cost of his adoption, you can donate directly towards Sean's adoption funding by going to his page here.

What a cutie! Betcha he is a handful! Felix is blessed to be at more of an internat than the institution. He doesn’t have many words of his own, but his receptive understanding is very good. He is potty trained and does ask to go to the bathroom. He is described by his caregivers as very friendly and quite the comedian!

Felix urgently needs a family. He was raised as the only child with DS in the baby house. He was much loved and the only child with special needs there, so he didn’t know he was different….. he was raised like the rest of the kids…and was transferred late to the “Internat for Invalids”. Felix was ADORED up until he was about 8 and has taken the transfer very hard. Felix is SUCH a love and he deserves to have a family of his own. Please help us rally for Felix!

Please pray to Saint William of Rochester, who's sole purpose is to intercede with each and every one of these beautiful children that need their forever families!!

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank You that children are a gift from You and that their angels are always in Your presence in heaven. (Matthew 18:10)

Today we pray for Felix who is in need of a new family better able to care for, nurture and love them. We also thank you, Father, that you have given loving hearts to a forever family that they feel called by their love for this precious child to begin the adoption process. You know the difficulties that Felix has gone through and the prayer and effort they have put into their decision to adopt.

We are asking for Saint William of Rochester intercession and help Felix to find his permanent family.

Guide us as we pray and make us instruments of healing and help in this situation. And guard our own hearts with the knowledge that You are here and that You care. In the name of Jesus who blessed little children by taking them into his arms, Amen.

Pancakes for dinner tonigth! It's Shrove Tuesday!

Not only is today Fat Tuesday, the beginning or Mardi Gras, it's also known as Shrove Tuesday! It's the beginning of Lent. "Shrove" is the past tense of the word "shrive," which means to hear a confession, assign penance, and absolve from sin. Shrove Tuesday is a reminder that we are entering a season of penance."

Here in the United States we obviously know today as Fat Tuesday. This day isn't regularly known in the United States as Shrove Tuesday as much as it is in other parts of the world, when I read about it, I thought it would be a nice way to start Lent and start another tradition in our family.

Years ago, Catholics were not allowed to eat meat (or meat products at all) and rich foods during Lent rather than no meat on Fridays like we do now. Making pancakes was a way for families to use up all the fat, eggs, milk, and sugar in the house before fasting. It signifies the beginning of the 40 days of fasting that Christ went through leading up to his death.

And I must add, who doesn't like breakfast for dinner?! It's one of my favorite meals, LOL!!

Blizzard Nemo 2013

Here in Connecticut, we got SLAMMED by Blizzard Nemo Friday and Saturday!! Never in my wildest dreams did I EVER imagine that we would get as much snow as we did! This storm actually beat the snow fall record from the Blizzard of 1978!

If there's been one thing that has been a result of this storm is how much it brought neighbors together all over the state. There are several people in our neighborhood that we've never even met. This weekend, I had the chance to actually get to meet some of them. Many of our neighbors all came together and helping each other to dig out. It was truly heartwarming (at least for me) to see so many people come together, not only in our neighborhood but neighborhoods all across Connecticut!

You shall love your neighbor as yourself
