40 Days of Prayer for Reece's Rainbow: Day 23, Samuel

During Lent, I have decided to pray for one child with Down syndrome a day that they find a forever family to adopt them Reece's Rainbow. These children need our help!

The mission of Reece’s Rainbow is to rescue orphans with Down syndrome through the gift of adoption, to raise awareness for all of the children who are waiting in 25 countries around the world, and to raise funds as adoption grants that help adoptive families afford the high cost of adopting these beautiful children.

Every family deserves the blessing of a child with Down syndrome!!

Day 23: Samuel
Another child that has stolen my heart!! Samuel was born June 3, 2003. He only has $320 in grant money towards his adoption! If you feel compelled to help out Samuel, you can visit his page. All of these precious children need our help!!

"Samuel has Down syndrome, an undescended testicle & flat feet. He also has a functional heart murmur that does not require therapy. He is integrated in a room with healthy children. He walks independently. He can drink out of a cup but still requires assistance with feeding. He carries our simple verbal instructions. He seeks out the company of adults. His development is delayed in all areas."

Please pray to Saint William of Rochester, who's sole purpose is to intercede with each and every one of these beautiful children that need their forever families!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank You that children are a gift from You and that their angels are always in Your presence in heaven. (Matthew 18:10)

Today we pray for Samuel who is in need of a new family better able to care for, nurture and love them. We also thank you, Father, that you have given loving hearts to a forever family that they feel called by their love for this precious child to begin the adoption process. You know the difficulties that Samuel has gone through and the prayer and effort they have put into their decision to adopt.

We pray that the adoption process will run smoothly and that the doors will open so this child may become a permanent part of a new family. We pray for wisdom and discernment for all doctors, lawyers, social workers, judges and court staff that they will work in the best interest of this child. We also pray for Your provision of the resources of money and expert advice needed for the prospective parents.

We pray that your will be done in this precious child’s life and that this child will be surrounded by love and nurtured in the knowledge of You so they may grow into the strong, secure, beautiful person you desire.

We are asking for Saint William of Rochester intercession and help Samuel to find his permanent family.

Guide us as we pray and make us instruments of healing and help in this situation. And guard our own hearts with the knowledge that You are here and that You care. In the name of Jesus who blessed little children by taking them into his arms, Amen.

Iron Man stops by for tea

Leah, Aiden, and I took a trip down to New Haven today to spend the afternoon at Ikea. Unfortunately a few weeks back, Joey busted and broke apart the kids table that we had in their playroom along with one of the chairs (he's so rough sometimes, LOL!). I've been checking around at various thrift shops and consignment stores trying to find a new one but no luck. I even stopped by Home Depot to price wood to have one made but realized it's cheaper just to go out and buy one.

All together I spent $20 more than I wanted to since I got 3 chairs (Leah insisted we needed them since she wanted the pink one...) but it's money well spent and I know the kids will get TONS of use out of their new table and chairs.

DIY: Sweetheart candy wall hanging

Leah has been complaining that we don't have nearly enough Valentine's Day decorations, aka we don't have  enough hearts throughout our house right now, LOL!! I had seen a similar DIY project on Pinterest and decided to give it a whirl since it look super easy!!

I went to Micheal's and bought plain wooden hearts, pastel acrylic paints, and pretty ribbon.

I painted each heart a different color like sweetheart candies you find in the stores this time of the year. Then I went on the computer and typed out each of our names in a larger font. Then I carefully cut each letter out then lightly traced  them each on the hearts with a pencil. After that I used a red paint pen (you could also use a red sharpie) to color in each of names.

After that I thought that they needed a little something extra so I took some clear glitter paint and added a coat on top of each of them. Then I used a hot glue gun to attach each of the hearts to the ribbon.

I'm so happy with the way this project turned out and I think Leah is too!!

The Bzzzzzzz About Morningstar

I got chosen for another BzzCampaign from BzzAgent, this time for Morningstar products! Although we eat meat on a regular basis, we're in no means vegetarians, LOL! I bought a box of the Morningstar Chik'n Strips and made them for Leah and Aiden one day for lunch. They LOVED them, they couldn't even tell a difference and I even tried one and I couldn't even taste the difference!

I give this one 4 out of 5 stars!!

If you're interested in signing up with BzzAgent, give it a try! But first, you'll first want to get signed up with MyPoints, that way you can earn credit for the surveys you'll take through BzzAgent. So, sign up first with MyPoints then BzzAgent.

A Walk Down Memory Lane With Joey

I used to have a blog called Raising Joey. Unfortunately  I let the domain name expire and when that happened, I lost ALL of the posts I had written for over 5 years, my pregnancy with Joey up until Aiden was born. I have a lot of it backed up onto my computer but can't get it to download onto my new blog. Someday I'll figure it out, LOL!

Anyways, today I remembered the site that I had downloaded all of the old videos and slide shows I had made in the past, especially about Joey! I've been sitting here (almost in tears) watching them all.

"The 21 Reasons Why I Chose Life:"

And this one "I Can Change The World"

And it was love at first sight for Joey and Leah

Googly eyed monsters

There's nothing better than project to help move a snow day along, LOL!! I had some googly eyes in my craft closet and thought making some monsters was an excellent idea after Joey watched Monsters Inc. last night!

I just glued the eyes on paper, gave the kiddos markers and let their imaginations go wild (except I had to help Aiden and Joey a little...)!

(Leah insisted on taking a picture of me, LOL!!)

More salt dough fun!!

I posted last month my recipe for salt dough and a few of the ornaments I made. I made these as well from Joey, Leah, and Aiden's hand prints. I hope to make this DYI project an annual tradition, this will be the perfect way to watch my kids grow through their hand prints.
